The autumn season is upon us and it’s a really special time of the year to tie the knot. The changing leaves and the hopeful promise of some mild weather still to come has made September and October increasingly popular months to say ‘I do’ in recent times.

As an award-winning wedding planner, I’ve helped countless couples put together their dream autumnal wedding day, drawing on the palettes of the season. One of the most practical ways to inject some autumnal flavour into your day, is by using some carefully chosen seasonal flowers, which you can use in everything from your boutiques to pew ends and even your table centrepieces. Here’s some of my top seasonal inspiration for achieving the look. If you’d like to chat in more detail about your wedding day, then please get in touch.

Bouquets

You don’t have to go over the top with the colours of autumn to get the seasonal feel across. Think of using just a few vibrant dashes of yellows, burnt oranges and greens within your bouquet. The contrast of the pop of colour with the lightness of your dress will be impactful and beautiful. Also think of adding in hints of gypsophila and even some leaves into your traditional bouquet for a unique take.

Headpieces

If you’re not keen on using seasonal flowers in your bouquet, but still want to channel the theme, then why not go for a headpiece? It can be a simply beautiful and easy-to-do look. Think about winding branches, burnt orange leaves, berries or posies together for a full headpieces or just an accent you can pop into your updo? Works just as well with your hair down too. You can also extend the look to your bridesmaids and flower girls.

Pew Ends

Your church or ceremony venue is the first thing your guests will see of your wedding day, so it’s important to make sure you have it looking the way you want it. Pew ends are always a wonderful way to make a stunning impact and injecting them with a season autumnal feel makes for a total showstopper. Think about adding a bit of drama with mini hollowed out pumpkins with floral arrangements coming out of the tops, or a scattering of season leaves.

Centerpieces

You can really have a lot of fun with your autumnal centrepieces and if you want to ramp up the drama and impact, then go for a vibrant mixture of burnt oranges, yellows, creams and browns in a variety of florals. Add in hints of strong green, as well as twigs, branches and crisp leaves for a really rich look. Pop in lanterns, tealights, wooden décor and even mini pumpkins to complete the look.
