Paper might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think about your wedding day décor, but there’s far more to paper than meets the eye. In recent times, paper décor has become popular with many Irish couples choosing to use lanterns, pompoms, ribbons, bunting and even paper bouquets for their wedding day.
But before you panic, we’re not talking about any nasty paper plates or cups connotations, these days paper décor is on the ultra-cool end of the wedding spectrum and can be incorporated into practically any theme from shabby chic to retro glamour. Indeed, it’s surprising just how well paper décor can work to make an impressive impact on your big day for a relatively small budget. Plus lots of paper pieces, such as pompoms can even be made at home and are therefore a big one to tick off the DIY list.
We’ve helped to provide some really creative paper options for our clients, incorporating everything from lanterns to pompoms into our weddings, so if you’d like to know more about how we can make your wedding day magical, don’t hesitate to send us a mail

Lanterns

Simple and very easy to source, traditional Chinese style lanterns are a wonderful addition to your wedding day. Particularity good in a marquee setting, they provide the ultimate opportunity to create atmospheric lighting, plus a range of colours to suit your theme. And if you’re lucky enough to be getting married outdoors, they’re a no brainer.

Pompoms

Paper pompoms have become majorly popular in recent years. The reason? Well when you look at these lush, fluffed up bundles it’s not hard to see why so many couples want them. Mimicking the beauty of fresh, full blooms they can be used in so many ways. Think about having them on the backs of the chairs at your reception, lay them on the guest’s tables, hang them from the ceilings and even think about placing them outdoors for some spectacular photos. If you’re sourcing them yourself, do bear in mind they take a little work to assemble, but the payoff is well worth it.

Ribbons

When you think of ribbons, impact may not be the first thing that comes to mind, but with a little effort ribbons can really bring the wow factor to your wedding day décor. Try and think big when it comes to ribbons and get creative about hanging them from the ceilings or backs of chairs and draping them in places you wouldn’t expect to see them.

Bouquets

A bit of a new one, but paper bouquets for the bridal party are fast becoming the ‘in-thing.’ There are obvious pros to making this choice, with price being a massive one. And if you’re on a budget, they are definitely one to consider. Apart from the savings, they do make for a unique effect that can tie nicely into your theme. Some look so real you’d almost confuse them with actual flowers, while others use super bright colours, music sheet paper or even newspaper to illustrate they are indeed paper.

Buntings & Garlands

Not really a new phenomenon to the wedding scene or indeed any celebration for that matter, bunting is a go-to accessory that always delivers. And with more and more couples going for that retro feel on their big day, bunting is very much back in vogue. These days though there so much more to choose from than the one shape and style, todays couples can choose everything from flowers or heart shaped garlands, to brightly coloured discs and even butterflies.
