Planning how you will get to and from the church or ceremony venue on your wedding day can be a chance to add a touch of quirkiness to your big day. Most of us think of classic cars as the general mode of transport, but if you’re willing to have a little fun, then he sky is the limit. Over my years as an award-winning wedding planner, I’ve seen many variations on how couples get to and from their ceremony, everything from horses to buses and plenty in between!
These days you can choose almost anything your imagination can conjure up. Couples have been known to use tanks, tractors, hot air balloons, canal boats, or even elephants to arrive at their ceremony! Of course some of these ideas are totally impractical for various reasons, such as your budget and crucially your ceremony location. For example, we might all want to arrive by helicopter, but it’s a costly mode of transport most couples cannot afford. Similarly if you want to arrive by canal boat but your church is nowhere near water, then it’s probably not going to happen for you.
When it comes to quirky modes of transport, do dream big, but just make sure your dream is achievable to avoid disappointment. And don’t forget to use your common interests as inspiration, for example are you both keen golfers? Then why not arrive by golf cart? Do you have a passion for cycling or do you love vintage tractors, etc?
Here’s a roundup of some of the more unusual transport ideas. If you’d like to chat about your wedding needs in more detail then please get in touch.
