There are two types of couples in this world. The ones who love the idea of wedding favours and those who don’t. If you’re the former and the thought of having something generic like a single chocolate as your wedding favour fills you with dread, then don’t panic, we’re here to help.
These days, the sky really is the limit when it comes to wedding favours and if you’re a couple who love to have a bit of fun, then the quirkier they are, the better! Favours can be a fantastic way to get your personality across on your wedding day, but they can also be excellent ice breakers at the tables, especially where the guests don’t know each other.
Above all, make sure to go for something that reflects you both as a couple, don’t be tempted to go for something outlandish if it doesn’t fit in with your theme and who you are. Here’s some of our top tips for the more unusual sorts of wedding favours out there. If you’d like to chat with us about how we can help plan your big day then please email us.
Edible Goodies
Edible treats are pretty much a safe bet for any wedding, but as we said, forget the old, worn, single chocolate route. If you want to wow, then think about having something like mini bottles of Champagne with personalised labels. Fortune cookies with a specialised message inside are also very cool, or if you like things a bit retro what about Pez dispensers? Personalised cookies, little jars or ketchup with special wedding labels or home bakes are also good.
DIY
If you’re a total DIY lover, then this is your time to shine. Why not whip up a batch of homemade jams or chutneys and get some cute personalised labels made up? If you’re a dab hand at the BBQ, what about some homemade BBQ sauce, marinade, or lemonade? Why not fill jars with homemade marshmallows or corn for popping? If you are a total music nut, then why not make playlists for the guests and give them as favours?
Clever Kits
Little kits are such fun for wedding favours and they really do break the ice at the table. Hangover kits are of course an obvious choice and can be as quirky as you like. Think about what contents you’ll put inside from Vitamin C, to headache pills, to eye masks or even a bloody Mary mix! Midnight snack kits are also really fun. Sort of like a mini packed lunch the guests can tuck into after they get hungry from all the dancing.
Go Green
Seeds and plants have been popular wedding favours for many years and the appeal hasn’t gone away. They are ideal for those with green fingers and a lovely thing to give to your guests. It’s a gift that will grow year after year and will hopefully be a reminder of your fabulous wedding day was, each time they see it. Go for personalised seed packaging, or why not get some mini plants in pots? Cacti are another modern twist to consider, as are cute mini watering cans or heart shaped bird feeders for your garden.
