If you’ve just got engaged, congratulations!! The next few months are set to be really exciting for you and first on your to-do list will probably be securing your venue. It can be huge fun going to see your potential wedding venues and it’s the time when all your plans and ideas for your big day will really start to come to life.

Of course, in the middle of all the dreaming of a perfect wedding day, there’s also some serious questions you need to ask before you sign on the dotted line.  The two most important questions are obviously, if the venue is free on your chosen date and can it accommodate your number of guests?  But there are tons of other super important questions that will have a major bearing on your wedding day. Of course details are our forte and after years planning some truly amazing weddings we know all the really important things you need to ask your venue, so make sure you bring our essential questions with you on your venue ‘go-sees.’

The Big Questions 

Are you free on our chosen date?

What are the maximum and minimum number of guests we can have?

Do you have a policy of one wedding per day?

Who will we be dealing with in the run up to the wedding and will he/she be there on our wedding day?

When do you need to know about final numbers?

What’s the cancellation policy? Are there penalties if numbers on the day differ to the final numbers?

How much is the deposit?  Can we pay in instalments?

Are you licensed for civil ceremonies? If so what are your options?

Is the bridal suite included in the package? What about rooms for the parents?

The Room & Décor

What are the maximum numbers to each table?

What different table shapes you have available?

Can we hire in tables in needed?

Are items such as chair covers, sashes, menus, place names, seating plans, tablecloths, cake stands and all crockery included?

What centrepieces are provided?

Are flowers included?

Can we dress the room as we want to? (hire in items, such as lighting, candelabras, lanterns, etc)

When can we gain access to dress the room if we need to?

The Food & Drink

What time is the meal served?

What are the menu options?

Are there special menus for children?

Can you cater for any dietary requirements?

What is included in the pre-dinner reception – tea/coffee, bubbles?

Is the champagne toast included?

What are the wine options for the meal? Can we bring our own wine and how much is corkage?

What time is the evening food served and what are the options?

Can we bring in a food truck?

Is there a complimentary food/wine tasting?

The Evening

Is there a PA system for the speeches?

Where do the band set up? And what time do they need to be here?

Where is the dancefloor and what size is it? What, if anything, has to be moved to set up the dancefloor?

Do you have a licence for a bar extension? Is there an extra charge?

Is there a residents bar and what time does it open until?

When do our guests have to leave?

Accommodations

What accommodations are on offer?

Is there a discounted rate for our guests?

Do we need to take a certain amount of rooms?

Are there B&Bs in the area?

What is check out and check in time?
